The school has a long-standing commitment to ensuring all pupils feel welcome and safe in our community, with support available in school for LGBTQ+ pupils.

LGBT Café

Since 2019 a team of staff and pupils have been running the LGBT Café at Hutchesons’. The Café has provided a safe, welcoming space for LGBT pupils and their allies.

The LGBT Café is safe space for LGBT pupils and their allies to talk and to listen, or just to eat their lunch. Everyone is welcome!

The café meets every Friday lunch time in Drama Studio 3.

Pupil Support

Peer Mentoring

Senior pupils have volunteered to mentor their fellow pupils. They have received training and you can arrange to have a chat with a Mentor.

House Staff

Like any other concerns you have, you can talk to the House teams or your Form Teacher if you need support or advice.

LGBT Youth Scotland

Help and support can be found on the LGBT Youth Scotland website.

LGBT Youth Scotland Charter

The LGBT Charter programme has been developed to support schools to improve LGBT inclusion for learners, staff and families, by working towards a set of goals and standards set out by the LGBT Youth Scotland charity.

By becoming an LGBT Charter school, we will make sure that all pupils and staff members feel included, and that for pupils in particular, they may be able to see themselves represented in the wider Hutchesons’ community.
