Primary Fairtrade Animation Course

The Fairtrade Committee at Kingarth Street was joined in February by FP and animation tutor, Joanna Susskind (C2002) from Toad’s Caravan Ltd, to learn all about stop motion animation.

Film put together by Joanna Susskind at Toad’s Caravan (www.toadscaravan.com)

Pupils from P4 – P7 were joined by their teacher Mrs Buchan and Head of Art and Design, Mrs Breckenridge, and they managed to create a wonderful video titled ‘Fairtrade story: A Fair Tale’, promoting the importance of Fairtrade cocoa in Ghana. They were also joined by Colleen Tait from the Scottish Fairtrade Forum.

They spent 2 full days in workshops in order to create all props, artwork, voice-recordings and animations to make this beautiful movie come together.

Starting last October, the pupils worked collaboratively to create and produce the heart-warming 4-minute animation which tells the story of a cocoa farmer in Ghana and the positive impact that Fairtrade has on his family and local community.
