Photography Competition 2024

Our Annual School Photography Competition recently took place, and the standard of entries was once again exceptionally high.

The competition was open to all pupils in S1 – S6, who set to work capturing their best image that fell into one of five themes: landscape, portraiture, architecture, action, night-time, and abstract.

With a judging panel comprising of four of our S6 pupils who currently study Higher Photography, they split the entries into two winners: Junior (S1 – S3) and Senior (S4 – S6). They were very impressed by the technical and creative flair demonstrated in these winning images and were delighted to announce that the winners for 2024 were:

  • Senior Overall Winner – Lewis (S6)
Lewis’ talent to take an action-shot so clear with no blurring whilst using a film camera suitably impressed the judges.
  • Junior Overall Winner – Benjamin (S2)
Benjamin’s eye for capturing the dramatic, dark and stormy image set the bar for all other entries for the judges.

Congratulations to our Runners-Up who also impressed the judges with their atmospheric landscape and use of light exposure:

  • Senior Runner-up – Logan (S5)
  • Junior Runner-up – Lev (S1)

In addition to the winners, special mention goes to the following pupils whose photographs were noted by the judges as being the best in their category:

Junior:

  • Alex (S1)
  • Lara (S2)
  • Zoe (S3)
  • James (S2)
  • Runner up – Ellie (S3)

Senior:

  • Leo (S4)
  • Sherman (S4)
  • Findlay (S5)
  • Holly (S6)
  • Joseph (S5)
  • Runner Up – Iona (S6)

Well done to everyone who took part in this year’s competition, the caliber of entries was incredible and can be viewed in the gallery in the Art Department at Beaton Road or online via the image gallery below:
