P4’s Creative Learning Adventure
Primary 4 pupils embarked on a creative learning adventure when they participated in a Mini Museum Makers Workshop at Kelvin Hall Museum.
Designed to deepen their understanding of history and the importance of museums, pupils visited Kelvin Hall where they learned about the vital work that goes into storing and caring for museum artefacts.
Learning about the roles of a curator, pupils had the unique opportunity to handle real museum objects and even created their own stories, bringing their historical items to life in their own words.
Kelvin Hall’s civic collection, which belongs to the people of Glasgow and tells the story of the city’s past, was a major highlight of the visit. Pupils were fascinated by how these objects are preserved and displayed to reflect Glasgow’s rich history.
The final task of the day was to work in teams to create mini-museum displays. This was a fun and engaging exercise with their teachers commenting that the teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm displayed, was truly impressive. Pupils will next create their own museum at home, applying their learning from the workshop — and we look forward to seeing their creations!
It was a great opportunity to take their learning outside the classroom, with special thanks to Kelvin Hall for inviting our pupils to this insightful and fun workshop.
